Doncaster Council has renewed its contract with us to provide stop smoking services across the district.

It follows strong performance by the Doncaster Smokefree team.

Between April and December 2017, Yorkshire Smokefree saw 750 people quit smoking using their free Doncaster service, compared to 659 over the same period in 2016, an increase of over 10%.

In contrast, fewer people are quitting across the whole of England, with the number of quitters nationally actually reducing by 8% over the same period.

Simon Lister, Service Manager, said “I’m delighted that we will be continuing to provide stop smoking services across the borough. I’m very proud of this and the hard work of the whole Smokefree team. We’re continuing to buck the national trend of recent years of decreasing numbers of clients attending and quitting with NHS Stop smoking services.”

Rupert Suckling, Doncaster Council’s director of Public Health, said:

“It’s great news that the number of people in Doncaster stopping smoking is on the up. If you’re a local resident and want to stop smoking, I’d recommend that you to get in touch with the Smokefree Doncaster team and take advantage of their free service”.
