What were your reasons for stopping smoking?

To improve my health and also encourage my family to quit.

Have you stopped smoking previously?

Yes.

Before your first appointment. Did you believe you would be successful?

No, it isn't easy. It is too socially accepted to shake.

Did you use stop smoking medication to help you quit?

Yes.

How helpful did you find them?

Significantly, without the gum and patches, it would be tricky!

Apart from medication, what else helped you to quit and stay smoke-free?

The positive support from everyone at Yorkshire Smokefree.

What do you like the most about being a non-smoker/quit?

Health benefits, better throat, and I can now taste better.

Has your health improved since you quit? And if so, in what ways?

Less coughing and mouth ulcers - also the return of taste and smell.

Other than health, have you achieved anything since quitting that you couldn't do while smoking?

I am swimming in small bits.

What have you found helpful whilst accessing the Yorkshire Smokefree service?

The CO2 monitors spur you on, and the personal follow-up adds a human touch.
