Today marked a milestone in Michela's journey - she completed her treatment with our service as a successful quit. It wasn't an easy road for Michela. With a history of smoking up to 20 cigarettes a day, coupled with COPD and a previous stroke, she faced immense challenges.
It was a few years ago when Michela's life took a drastic turn. Admitted into A&E, she confronted the harsh reality of her health condition. It was a wake-up call she couldn't ignore. Determined to turn her life around, Michela decided it was time to quit smoking for good.
With the support of our service, Michela embarked on her quit journey. She received a combination of face-to-face and telephone support, but it was the personal interactions that fueled her motivation to stay smoke-free. The encouragement, guidance, and understanding she received during those sessions were invaluable.
One of the pivotal moments in Michela's journey was seeing her carbon monoxide reading drop from 15ppm to a non-smoker's level of 3ppm. It was tangible evidence of her progress and served as a source of determination to continue on her path to better health.
Reflecting on her experience, Michela expressed gratitude for the service that had been by her side every step of the way. "The service has been amazing," she said "It has helped me become smoke-free and walk more."
As Michela moves forward, she does so with a renewed sense of vitality and purpose. Her journey is a testament to the power of determination, support, and the possibility of transformation.
